Sarah + Drew | Engagement Session

Hi everybody!

We wanted to introduce you to one of our couples; meet Sarah and Drew!

Sarah and Drew will be married this upcoming June at Castle Hill in Oxford, MS.

But let’s talk about their engagement session because it’s not your typical engagement session!!! We actually had the privilege of flying to DALLAS, yes DALLAS!!

Since we got to spend just a little bit on time with Sarah + Drew, we wanted to hear their story!!

I asked Sarah and Drew how they met. Would you believe me if I said Sarah made the first move and their relationship started because of their love of a nice cold Blue Moon?!?!

Sarah added a little tip for the ladies saying  “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, you may end up marrying the guy!”

The two have been together 6 1/2 years and feel as though they grew up together. From adolescence to adulthood, navigating the highs and lows of college, and moving to a new city after graduation to start a new career, these two have been by each other’s side the entire time.

But let’s get to the proposal…. It was almost spoiled!!

Sarah and Drew are still very close with their college friends and each year they take a beach trip all together! Just like everybody else, this group picks one night to get dressed up and take those “golden hour” beach photos!! (DREAMYYYY!!!!) This particular night their friends were “running behind” so Sarah and Drew headed down to the beach to wait for them there, but instead of just waiting, Sarah was surprised with a beachside picnic setup with a blanket, rose petals, and champagne.

BUT before they could make it down to the beach, the security guard approached the two and asked “Has the engagement already happened?” Little did he know, this was the couple and the engagement was about to take place! Sarah admitted that her eyes darted down to Drew’s pocket to see if she could spot a ring box, but she didn’t see anything! CRISIS AVERTED! Sarah actually thought she was about to witness someone else’s engagement!

Sarah and Drew continued on towards the beach where Sarah saw the setup and quickly realized what was happening! She mentioned that Drew took her hands and had a whole speech prepared, but the entire time all she could think was “get down on your knee and propose already, I can’t take the buildup!”

After Sarah said yes, their friends who were “running behind” jumped out from behind the bushes and cheered for the newly engaged couple!

I asked Sarah and Drew what their best wedding planning tip would be for future couples.

“Don't stress over the details! Weddings take up a lot of time, energy and money. If it starts affecting your and/or fiance's mental health, it's time to slow down and remind yourself what's really important. For us, it was the venue, band, food and alcohol that mattered most, as well as being surrounded by loved ones. We want our guests to have fun above anything else, and the little details won't make or break that.”

This is a great tip to really remind couples to do what is best for you and enjoy being engaged!! However, the two are looking forward to building a family together and also getting the spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.

We are so thankful that we get to be such a small piece of Sarah and Drew’s big day! June 25th can’t come fast enough!!
