The Koleinis | Wedding Day

The Kolenis | A Day Full of Love and Traditions

The Feather Stone Wedding Team had the PRIVILEGE of being a part of Katie + Kasra’s special day on November 6, 2021.

Katie + Kasra’s ceremony and reception were both held at the Dixon Gallery located in Memphis, TN. But their story obviously began long before their wedding day, to be more specific 12 years before!

The two met through mutual friends and began working together at YMCA, until Kasra was fired for missing a shift… but he missed his shift to take Katie to a movie! Do we count that as a win or a loss?!?! Staying friends all throughout high school and college, their relationship blossomed into something deeper their senior year at the University of Memphis.

The engagement was nothing short of a sweet intimate moment. Katie always wanted something intimate between the two of them and Kasra planned just that. They got engaged in their favorite place, Memphis and then shared a private dinner at their favorite restaurant. After their intimate celebration, their family and friends surprised them with a small party.

Quickly approaching 6 months of marriage, these newlyweds have had a lot of exciting changes. First, the two adopted a tiny furry friend, Huey, their kitten. They enjoy taking pictures and videos of Huey to send to each other. Second and the biggest change of all, Katie and Kasra are moving to New York City in just a few short weeks. While they are very excited about the move and the opportunities, they know they will be back in Memphis before long!

Now let’s get back to talking about their special day!!

Katie + Kasra’s wedding day was November 6, 2021 at the Dixon Gallery in Memphis, TN. Their vendors’ list was nothing short of amazing!! We might be biased, but photos were done by Feather Stone Weddings. The big ticket item, the dress, was purchased at Maggie Louise in Collierville, Tn. Of course, Katie had a glam squad; Katie hired Beauty by Burgess and let’s just say, Katie looked stunning! To add to an already beautiful day, the flowers were by Lynn Doyle! Both the wedding cake and the groom’s cake were from Frost Bakery and the catering was Park & Cherry and Hog Wild. Last but not least, the band was Gary Escoe with Crescent Moon Entertainment!

When I asked Katie + Kasra if they had any advice for future couples, they said their biggest piece of advice for wedding planning is to do what is best for you as a couple. you will receive 1,000 pieces of advice from just about everybody, but making sure to keep each other at the center is the most important. In addition, The other thing they said is that when you merge two families, there’s a good chance you can’t make everyone happy.

“We did our best to make our wedding reflect the two of us as a couple with different cultural backgrounds. I wouldn’t change anything and am so happy we listened to our gut and made our own decisions between the two of us.”

Katie + Kasra’s favorite memory from wedding planning was the “post toast” that they held after their rehearsal dinner. The two wanted to keep the rehearsal dinner as intimate as possibly with close family and friends. The post toast gave them the opportunity to open up the celebration with more friends and family and got the opportunity to have fun and celebrate with everyone in town, because the next day is just crazy hectic and you don’t have much time to talk to everyone.

Thank you so much for allowing the feather stone weddings team to be such a small part of your big day! We wish you guys the best in NYc and hope you come see us when you’re back in town!!
